ENTEBBE.The first group of Ugandan pilgrims who performed the 2026 Hajj has safely returned home, touching down at Entebbe International Airport on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from Mecca and Madinah.
More than 30 pilgrims traveled with Alhashimiyah Hajj and Umrah Services. They are now back in Uganda bearing the honored titles of Hajji and Hajjat.
According to Sheikh Swaleh Kiggundu, Managing Director of Alhashimiyah Hajj and Umrah Services, the journey began in Madinah where the group spent a week in worship at Masjid an-Nabawi. There they performed Islamic rituals, visited Al-Raudha, and toured historical sites every Muslim is encouraged to see when in the holy city.
“We connected all our pilgrims online as one of the special offers for Alhashimiyah pilgrims to keep communication easier between them and their families back home,” Sheikh Kiggundu said.
From Madinah, the group proceeded to Makkah to perform the core Hajj rituals. Sheikh Kiggundu confirmed all pilgrims were guided by experienced leaders to ensure each rite was performed correctly, including tours of historical places in Makkah. He said all pilgrims are in good condition.
Alhashimiyah was one of the companies that partnered with Salam TV for the “Road to Makkah” campaign. The campaign links pilgrims in the Holy Lands with families in Uganda through live broadcasts on Salam TV and Next Media. It also teaches Ugandans about the benefits of Hajj and Umrah, who is eligible to perform them, and showcases historical sites in Makkah and Madinah to inspire more people to undertake the journey.
Hajji Fadhir Ali Haroon, Operations and Financial Controller of Alhashimiyah, said the company’s focus is service and accountability. “We try our best to give service to the people in order to value their money. Our major aim is to satisfy our pilgrims since we are giving them services whose accountability is with Allah. We make sure that every ritual supposed to be performed is done successfully and in the right way,” he said.
Alhashimiyah says it is now registering pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj. Umrah services are also open year-round. Under the theme “Where challenges are opportunities,” the company says it specializes in serving everyone including the elderly, disabled, and blind, viewing these groups as an opportunity to serve and earn reward from Allah.
