The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting of the Joint Staff Committee to assess Uganda’s security posture and the progress of its military operations across the region.

The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Special Forces Command, brought together the Uganda People’s Defence Forces’ (UPDF) top leadership, including the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Service Chiefs, the Chief of Joint Staff, Division Commanders, Chiefs of Staff, Commanders of independent units, and members of the Joint Staff.

During the session, military leaders reviewed the operational performance and progress of Ugandan troops deployed in various regional missions. These include operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, and Equatorial Guinea.

The discussions focused on strengthening national security, enhancing military effectiveness, and ensuring the continued success of Uganda’s regional peace and stability efforts.

The Joint Staff Committee meeting is a regular strategic forum that enables the UPDF leadership to evaluate ongoing operations, align national defence priorities, and coordinate responses to emerging security challenges both within Uganda and across the region.

Uganda continues to play a significant role in regional peacekeeping and security initiatives, with its troops actively contributing to efforts aimed at combating insecurity, supporting stability, and fostering cooperation among neighbouring countries.
