
Police in Mukono have arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of Oloya Ivan, a 30-year-old teacher at Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango reported that Oloya was killed on Saturday at approximately 1:30 am in Bajjo Cell, Nyenje Ward, Goma Division.
The arrested suspects are: Kasumba Paul, 21, Mabale Simon, 23, Kibuuka Tom, 38, Lukodda Simon, 18, and Kandoole Charles Dani, 16, all casual workers and residents of Kiguunga.
According to Onyango, Oloya was attacked and killed near the gate of Code High School, where his wife, Aber Mercy, is also a teacher, as he walked home from Seeta High School. “The police introduced canine units to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspects. The body has been taken to Mulago for a postmortem examination, and investigations are ongoing,” Onyango stated.
A staff member from Code High School informed URN that Oloya’s body was discovered along the road, about 50 meters from their gate.
Aish Namita, a local resident, stated that Oloya was struck on the forehead, and his laptop was stolen.
Area Councillor William Kabali urged security forces to increase manpower and maintain foot patrols in the area.
