KAMPALA. Government through the Ministry of Works and Transport has indicated that no road contracts will be signed unless at least 50percent of the required right of (land) has been acquired.
The move, according to Ministry officials is aimed at reducing perennial delays that plug projects as affected persons seek compensation.
According to Mr Fred Byamukama, the Minister of Works and Transport , this will ensure contractors access sites and work without prolonged interruptions.
“Failure to secure land before construction has been identified as one of the major causes of project delays, escalating costs!!”
