Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai added another international medal to her glittering career after winning bronze in the women’s 3,000-metre steeplechase at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Chemutai crossed the finish line in 9:09.96 to secure third place behind Kenya’s Faith Cherotich, who claimed gold in a Games record time of 9:01.76, and England’s Elise Thorner, who took silver with a personal best of 9:05.45.
The bronze medal became Uganda’s third podium finish at the Games, arriving shortly after the Gazelles secured silver in the women’s 3×3 basketball final.
It also adds to an impressive list of achievements for Chemutai, who continues to rank among the world’s elite steeplechase runners.
