Mpigi High Court Circuit Judge Deepa Verma has been taken to the family court over allegations that she intermeddled with the estate of her late grandparents.Her cousins, Bunny Wallia and Ahluwalia Jaspal, leading a group of family members, have filed suit claiming they are the legitimate beneficiaries of the estates of the late Zura Kasuku and Ahluwalia Gudo.
The two brothers are challenging the Certificates of No Objection issued by the Office of the Administrator General in favour of Justice Deepa Verma and her brother Jassa Wallia. Those certificates enabled the pair to begin administration proceedings in the High Court.According to the suit filed through Lukwago, Matovu & Co. Advocates, the dispute began on 12 June 2026, when Judge Deepa and Wallia allegedly initiated or took part in opening and processing estate files at the Office of the Administrator General.
The claimants have also sued Administrator General Victor Manzi. They accuse him of organising and overseeing a purported family meeting on the two estates that was attended by only four people and that excluded other beneficiaries who claim legitimate interests in the property.Bunny Wallia and Ahluwalia Jaspal are asking the High Court to scrutinise the circumstances under which the Certificates of No Objection were issued.
In particular, they want the court to determine whether sufficient proof of the deaths was presented and verified by the Administrator General, whether all property belonging to the deceased was disclosed at the meeting, whether Judge Verma’s judicial status was revealed during the process, and whether any official position, influence or prestige was used, directly or indirectly, to obtain the certificates.The family court has summoned Judge Deepa Verma and the Administrator General to file their defences within 15 days.
