By Maria Mariam Namala

KAMPALA — Housing Finance Bank has appointed Dorothy Namutebi as its new Head of Mortgages and Consumer Banking, effective August 10, 2026.

Namutebi brings more than 22 years of experience in the banking sector, including 15 years with Housing Finance Bank, where she has held various management positions in branch operations, workplace banking and sustainability.

She joined Housing Finance Bank in April 2011 as a Branch Operations Manager and was promoted to Branch Manager in November 2014.

She later moved to Workplace Banking, where she spent more than eight years as Manager from November 2015 to January 2024.

In that position, Namutebi managed relationships between the bank, organisations and their employees, gaining experience in customer acquisition, relationship management and the delivery of financial services to different customer segments.

In January 2024, she moved to the bank’s sustainability function, serving as Manager, Sustainability, until her latest appointment.

Before joining Housing Finance Bank, Namutebi worked with DFCU Bank between 2004 and 2008, where she held customer service, teller and branch operations roles.

She later joined United Bank for Africa (UBA) as a Branch Operations Supervisor, serving from July 2008 until April 2011.

Namutebi holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Makerere University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management and is an ACCA Affiliate.

‘A responsibility I value’

Commenting on her appointment, Namutebi said she was grateful for the experience gained during her 15-year career at Housing Finance Bank.

“I am honoured to take on this responsibility and grateful for the opportunities that have shaped my journey at Housing Finance Bank over the past 15 years,” she said.

She said her experience in different areas of the bank had given her a broader understanding of customers and the institution’s operations.

Namutebi said she intends to use that experience to strengthen the bank’s mortgage and consumer banking services, improve customer relationships and develop products that respond to the changing financial needs of Ugandans.

In her new position, she will oversee the Mortgage and Consumer Banking function as the bank seeks to expand access to housing finance and other consumer financial services.

Her appointment adds to the bank’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its customer-focused approach and develop financial solutions tailored to Uganda’s growing housing and consumer finance market.
