Police in Gulu City have arrested two 18-year-old men suspected of involvement in the killing of a Gulu University student whose body was discovered by the roadside earlier this month.

The deceased, Ocen John Bosco Ngire, 23, was a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree, specialising in Literature. He was reportedly attacked by unidentified assailants on the night of October 10, 2026.

His body was later discovered in Agwee Cell, within Pece-Laroo Division, Gulu City, triggering a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The suspects, identified as Omara Gerald, alias Torach, and Rom Ambrose, alias Geng, were arrested following intelligence-led operations conducted by police in the Aswa West Region in collaboration with other security agencies. Both are residents of Agwee Cell.

According to police, the suspects provided accounts of the alleged killing and guided investigators to the location where Ngire was reportedly attacked.

Investigators also recovered items believed to be connected to the crime, including a pair of shoes identified as belonging to the deceased and a hammer suspected to have been used in the attack.

Police said inquiries were continuing to establish the circumstances of the killing, gather further evidence and determine the individual roles of the two suspects.

The suspects remain subject to the ongoing investigation, and their alleged involvement has yet to be established through court proceedings.
