Senior Three female student electrocuted while stealing electricity

MASAKA.

Shock gripped residents of Kyanamukkaka in Masaka District after a Senior Three student was electrocuted to death.
The Sunday evening tragedy happened at Sserinya -Bbala Village in Kyanamukkaka Sub County in Masaka District.


The deceased identified as Joan Wanyana 14, was a student at St. Mugagga Secondary School , Kindu located in the same district .
Police preliminary investigations reveal that Wanyana was trying to put uninsulated wire on the electric wires that pass near their home to tap electricity and watch TV.


Her father Mr John Kabali said he was shocked upon receiving the sad news .
“ It is shocking and no one can imagine the pain we are having as a family ,” he said


Kyanamukkaka Sub County Chairperson Mr Cyrus Mugagga consoled the bereaved family ,but blamed the incident on increasing illegal power connections in the area.


“Our area is stuck with the challenge of illegal power connections and power theft, we have always warned locals against it ,but many have failed to take heed “. He said
