Chinese Investors Arrive in Uganda for Inaugural Coffee Awareness Tour

Entebbe, Uganda – May 12, 2025
A delegation of top Chinese investors touched down at Entebbe International Airport today to launch the 1st Uganda–China Coffee Tour, a strategic 10-day initiative aimed at deepening agricultural trade and investment ties between the two nations.

The visiting team was received by Uganda’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Oliver Wonekha, who emphasized the growing partnership between Uganda and China, particularly in the coffee sector.

Running from May 12 to 21, the tour will take investors through Uganda’s renowned coffee-growing regions. Along the way, they will engage with local farmers, cooperatives, and key players in the coffee value chain. The initiative seeks to showcase Uganda’s coffee potential, attract investment in value addition, and promote the country’s coffee globally.

“This visit marks a significant milestone in strengthening Uganda–China cooperation, especially in agricultural trade,” said Ambassador Wonekha during the welcoming ceremony.

Uganda, Africa’s leading coffee exporter, views the tour as an opportunity to boost foreign direct investment in coffee processing, packaging, and export infrastructure—key steps toward maximizing returns for the millions of Ugandan smallholder farmers who rely on the crop.
