
Maroons Football Club has officially named Umar Abdallah Loi as their new head coach on a three-year contract, effective from July 2025 to July 2028, with an option for a one-year extension.
Loi is set to assume his role next week, bringing a wealth of experience and a proven track record to the club.A CAF ‘A’ License holder, Loi is a graduate of FIFA’s Talent Identification and Scouting programs and has completed the Football Periodization and Mentorship Course at FC Barcelona.
His coaching career boasts notable achievements, including leading Malakia SC to a runners-up finish in the South Sudan Super League and securing back-to-back titles with Yei-Joint Stars in the South Sudan Women’s League for the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.
Additionally, Loi guided Superstar FC in Bor to South Sudan Cup victories and has played a key role in developing players for the South Sudan national team.Maroons FC highlighted Loi’s tactical expertise, leadership, and commitment to player development as pivotal reasons for his appointment.
His deep understanding of FUFA, CAF, and FIFA operations, combined with his background in business administration and supply chain management, positions him as an ideal leader for the club.
Loi will be supported by a strong technical team, including Mohammad Senfuma (First Assistant Coach), Simon Peter Ojok (Second Assistant Coach), Maxwell Okello (Fitness and Conditioning Coach), Ken Rogers Tezigwa (Goalkeeping Coach), and Stephen Ekidu, who returns to the club.
The club expressed optimism about Loi’s appointment, citing his passion, modern coaching approach, and results-oriented mindset as key drivers to elevate Maroons FC to new heights in Ugandan football.
