KOLOLO. State Minister for Microfinance ,Mr Haruna Kasolo is destined to become NRM vice chairperson fc ‘or Central Region after receiving endorsements from Godfrey Kiwanda , Joseph Ssewava and Hakim Kyeswa .
The withdrawals, announced Wednesday during the NRM National Delegates Conference at Kololo, effectively reposition Kasolo as a strong favourite in the race. He now faces off with Mr Moses Karangwa, the Kayunga District NRM Chairperson, the closest rival for the seat.
However, Karangwa’s candidacy is already under scrutiny , with a section of delegates, particularly from Kayunga and Mukono, accusing him of land grabbing and misuse of his influence in district matters.
In their joint statement, the trio former aspirants rallied delegates to unite behind Kasolo, saying his track record and loyalty to President Museveni made him the “natural choice” to steer the region at CEC level.
Kasolo welcomed the endorsement, saying: “I am humbled by the confidence of my colleagues. This is not about individual ambition but about strengthening the NRM in the Central region and ensuring our party remains united as we prepare for 2026 and beyond.”
The NRM Delegates Conference was expected to vote later Wednesday night to decide who takes up the influential slot on the ruling party’s top organ.
