KAMPALA. After being forcefully edged out Kampala City Traders Association where he served as chairperson , Mr Thaddeus Musoke has now formed his own association .
The new association is named , the National Entrepreneurs and Traders Association Uganda (Neta).According to Musoke, Neta is not going to rival Kacita or any other traders association ,but will work with them to further the case of traders and enterenupers in the country .
“NETA will not fight with other associations, including Kacita. We will cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure traders have one voice to address the challenges they face,” Musoke said.
Musoke, was pushed out of Kacita a couple of months after he declared his bid to contest for Lord Mayor of Kampala ,with association executive members saying his action was partisan and needed to take leave . He went ahead and contested in the ruling National Resistance Movement primaries but lost to . Moses Kizito Nsubuga .
Although Musoke insists he consulted Kacita’s executive before joining active politics under the ruling NRM party, some members unfairly questioned his ability to serve impartially, arguing that his political affiliation could compromise the association’s interests.
“I have always put my political ideology aside to fight for traders. Some individuals wrongly judged me,” Musoke said, expressing disappointment in colleagues who criticized his leadership despite his longstanding voluntary service to Kacita.
He further stated that Neta will work alongside government initiatives and development programs, not in opposition, but to enhance engagement between the state and the business community.
Currently ,Kacita is headed by Hajj Isa Ssekitto as acting chairperson. Ssekitto has previously served as Kacita spokesperson for over two decades .
