OYAM. The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate and incumbent President Yoweri Museveni, is set to resume his campaigns on Tuesday with major rallies lined up in Oyam District in the Lango sub region and later in Pakwach District in the West Nile region.
Mr Museveni , who had temporarily paused his campaign engagements late last week to attend to state duties in Kampala, is expected to reignite his message of continuity and socio-economic transformation under the NRM’s 2026 theme “Protecting the Gains .”
The NRM campaign team says the northern stretch of the campaign trail will focus on consolidating support in regions that have benefited from NRM’s flagship development programs, including the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and the ongoing road and energy infrastructure projects.
Speaking to this publication on Monday, NRM Secretariat officials said President Museveni’s resumption signifies the party’s confidence and readiness to engage every region as campaigns intensify.
“The President is returning to the field with renewed vigor. The people of Oyam and Pakwach have witnessed tangible transformation in agriculture, electricity connectivity, and social services. His message will center on sustaining these gains and deepening wealth creation,” Ms Rosemary Sseninde, the ruling party’s director for mobilization ,said
She added that the northern region remains strategic to the NRM’s campaign machinery, as it reflects stability and recovery from years of insurgency through government-led programmes. “The Lango and West Nile regions have been a focus for post-war reconstruction, and the President’s continued engagement demonstrates his personal commitment to ensuring no region is left behind.”
