Museveni set to unveil multibillion Hoima City Stadium in December

HOIMA. President Museveni is set to commission the magnificent Hoima City Stadium this December.
Built by Turkish construction giant SUMMA, the $129 million(about Shs449.6billion) facility stands as one of Uganda’s most modern sporting complexes.

The stadia boasts a 20,000-seater main stadium, a 2,000-capacity indoor arena, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, multiple training pitches, and outdoor courts designed to host a wide range of disciplines as Uganda positions itself to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

According to State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang, President Museveni will officially open the stadia in December while on a campaign trail in the area .
“This project was fully funded through Uganda’s oil revenues and is a central component of the country’s preparations to co-host AFCON 2027 alongside Kenya and Tanzania,” the minister said

The stadium features state-of-the-art facilities such as LED lighting that displays Uganda’s national colors; black, yellow, and red, across its exterior, and a world-class parquet floor in the indoor arena.

Officials said construction of the stadium was completed ahead of schedule, following months of steady progress on major works including roofing, floodlight installation, seating, and landscaping.
