Centenary Bank has entered a strategic partnership with local technology firm Service Cops Limited in a move aimed at accelerating digital transformation and extending financial services to underserved communities across Uganda.
The partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), brings together Centenary Bank’s long standing experience in inclusive banking with Service Cops’ expertise in enterprise technology solutions. The collaboration will be implemented through Centenary Technology Services (Cente Tech), the bank’s technology subsidiary.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly develop and deploy digital platforms designed to improve service delivery, strengthen agent banking systems and enhance customer experience across mobile and online channels. The initiative is expected to particularly benefit rural populations and small businesses that continue to face barriers in accessing formal financial services.
Centenary Bank Managing Director Fabian Kasi said the collaboration aligns with the bank’s mission of driving inclusive growth through innovation.
“This partnership is a significant step in strengthening our digital capabilities and ensuring that financial services are accessible, affordable and responsive to the needs of our customers,” Kasi said.
Service Cops Executive Chairman Joseph Ndiho Kizza described the agreement as an opportunity to deploy African built digital solutions at scale, noting that the partnership will support institutions seeking to modernise their operations while remaining customer focused.
Beyond banking, the collaboration is expected to support digital financial solutions across sectors such as health, education and insurance, leveraging technology to streamline payments and service delivery.
Uganda has made notable progress in financial inclusion in recent years, but gaps remain, particularly among rural households and women. Industry analysts say partnerships between banks and technology firms could play a critical role in closing these gaps by reducing costs and improving access.
With its extensive branch and agent network, Centenary Bank is well positioned to translate digital innovation into practical solutions for everyday users. The partnership with Service Cops signals a broader shift within Uganda’s banking sector toward locally driven technology enabled financial inclusion.
