The Butambala Grade One Magistrate’s Court has barred the media from reporting, covering or live-streaming proceedings in the case in which former Butambala County MP Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi is accused of inciting violence.
The ruling was delivered on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following a prosecution application seeking restrictions on media coverage of the proceedings.
The prosecution had earlier asked court to restrict journalists from broadcasting the case live.
Kivumbi is facing charges of inciting violence and managing an unlawful society over allegations arising from a public gathering held on July 9, 2026, in Bugoye Village, Gombe Ward, Butambala District.
He has denied the charges.
The court’s decision comes as Kivumbi’s bail application is also being considered.He was further remanded until next month.
