KAMPALA. The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) has finally released the list of its flag bearers for positions of mayor and councilors in various divisions of Kampala City head of next year’s General Elections. Among the notables Nakawa East MP Eng. Ronald Balimwezo has been cleared to contest on NUP ticket for Kampala Lord Mayor while Singer- turned politician Buken Ali aka Nubian Lee will hold the party flag for Nakawa Division mayor .
This comes after weeks of intense scrutiny of the candidates’ academic qualifications and gauging their grassroots support. What has been done in Kampala , according to party insiders , is also going to be reciprocated in other local council administrative units across the country in the coming days .
After releasing the list of successful candidates at the lower administrative units level , the party’s election management committee, is destined to make public the flag bearers for LCV and parliamentary seats in the coming weeks .
