KAMPALA. President Museveni is today expected to preside over the swearing in ceremony f three ministers designate to formally take up their respective portfolios.
These lined up for ceremony to take place at State House ,Entebbe include+ Foreign Affairs Minister-designate Adonia Ayebare, State Minister-designate for Microfinance Sharsti Kutesa Musherure and State Minister-designate for Internal Affairs Juma Witonze Kisekka are set to be sworn into office on Tuesday at State House Entebbe. The swearing in of Ayebare and Musherure had delayed as a result of citizenship questions and parliamentary vetting .Both have now completed the process of renouncing their U.S. citizenship, which had delayed their inauguration alongside the rest of the Cabinet.
Parliament’s Appointments Committee had cleared their appointments but advised that the citizenship renunciation processes should first be completed. Museveni subsequently held back their swearing-in to avoid potential legal challenges.
Witonze’s path to office was different. Museveni nominated him as State Minister for Internal Affairs after Parliament’s Appointments Committee rejected Dr. Lawrence Muganga’s candidature over multiple citizenship concerns and his failure to provide evidence of formal renunciation processes when he appeared for vetting.
Witonze was subsequently vetted by the committee, paving the way for Tuesday’s inauguration.
