NRM Secretariat dispatches electoral materials to districts ahead of Tuesday village polls

KAMPALA.

The ruling National Resistance Movement ( NRM) Monday dispatched election materials to 151 NRM electoral districts ahead of Tuesday party village elections .


According to the NRM Electoral Commission Roadmap , members will first attend a baraza( public meeting ) in the morning with leaders and registrars verifying the registers and later hold elections for village NRM flag bearer and the entire LC party structure .

0000 Some big shot eying big positions in the party like district NRM chairperson or parliamentary flag bearers or Central Executive Committee members (CEC) have to win at the village level to raise their chances of getting the coveted seats which will be filled before September this year .

This is the reason why President Museveni suspended Cabinet which usually convenes on Monday and also asked Speaker Anita Among to call off Tuesday parliamentary sittings to allow NRM members to take part in the exercise . President Museveni also NRM national chairperson is pitching camp at Rwakitura Village in Kiruhura District supervisor the exercise while his wife Janet is in Ereenga ,Ntungamo District .


Mr Emmanuel Dombo, the party director in charge of information and publicity urged all party members to go out and vote leaders of their choice .


“I am sure members of the Central Executive Committee are keenly following whatever is happening and the outcome of this election has a direct impact on their positions. ,”he said
To avert any possible violence that usually mar NRM primaries, Mr Dombo said security has been tightened to ensure a smooth exercise .

Responding about falsifications in party registers already reported in parts of Sembabule District –the hotbed of NRM electoral violence , Dombo denied the reports saying these are rumours being circulated by individual politicians fearing free competition .

“Those allegations are being spread by politicians to get sympathy from their gullible supporters , I assure all NRM members that the exercise is going to be transparent and those who attempt to cause chaos will be dealt with decisively ,” he said.


The NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mr Tanga Odoi urged the supervisors already deployed to various districts to be promoters of internal democracy by respecting the will and decisions of members through their vote.


‎” The role of our supervisors is to observe and update the national Secretariat for necessary interventions. We don’t expect them to participate in voting, counting and declaration of results ” he guided.

Party structures – May 6, 2025
SIG Committees (youth, PWDs and older persons) – May 24, 2025
Member of Parliament (Constituency, district/ city and women MP)- July 16, 2025.
Local government council and municipal/city division mayors- July 24, 2025.


Local government council IV (Municipal /City division) councilors – August 18, 2025.
Local government council III (sub- county/town council /municipal division) will be elected on August 15, 2025.


Elective National conference to elect the NRM Presidential flag bearer, executive committee of CEC, executive committees of special organs at national level and special interest group MP flag bearers on August 25, 2025.
