Mr Twaha Kasirye ,the southern regional police spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying the school did not have any fire extinguishers which gave them a challenge to put out the fire. He said a fire tender could not easily access the school premises because of lack of a proper road to the ill-fated dormitory .

“We were challenged by the way the school was built because it lacks proper access routes, and the fire fighting truck could not access the place in time, but we managed to save other buildings from being destroyed ” He added.

Kasirye asked school proprietors of schools to invest some money in procuring firefighting equipment to help during such emergencies .
Cases of fire outbreaks are becoming common in Kalungu this being the second incident in a space of barely four months , the last incident was reported in June at Butende Technical Institute when fire also gutted a girls dormitory
