Shock as kidnappers kill son after father fails to pay Shs500,000 ransom

WAKISO. Kakiri Police Division is investigating the kidnap and murder of 25-year-old tricycle operator, Ssewakilyanga Tony, who was abducted from his home in Kikubampanga Cell, Kakiri Town Council, in the early hours of May 4, 2026.

According to police, Tony was allegedly kidnapped by 27-year-old suspect Magala Ibrahim and accomplices still at large, who forced him to call his father to demand a ransom of Shs500,000 .When the money was not secured, the victim was later killed and his body dumped in Kikajjo Cell.

Confirming the incident, Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer, Kampala Metropolitan Police, said: “We strongly warn individuals against engaging in acts of violence and criminality, and urge the public to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.”

He added that one suspect, Magala Ibrahim, had been arrested, with a knife and the victim’s mobile phone recovered, while efforts to arrest the other suspects are ongoing and inquiries into the matter continue.
