In a moment of diplomatic and spiritual significance, the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, this morning held a private audience with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican.
The meeting followed a solemn Mass led by the Holy Father at St. Peter’s Basilica, where prayers were offered for global peace, unity, and love among nations. Speaker Among joined other dignitaries and faithful in the Eucharistic celebration, reflecting Uganda’s deep-rooted Christian heritage and commitment to interfaith dialogue.
The Speaker’s visit underscores Uganda’s growing engagement with global religious institutions and highlights her personal devotion and diplomatic outreach. Sources close to the delegation say the Speaker expressed appreciation for the Vatican’s role in promoting social justice, human dignity, and moral leadership across the world.
Later today, Speaker Among is scheduled to meet with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, to discuss matters of mutual interest—ranging from development partnerships to peace-building initiatives in Africa.
