Uganda’s Speke Resort Munyonyo has been named the winner in the Best Luxury Convention Resort category at the 2026 Luxe Global Awards.

The accolade earns Speke Resort Munyonyo one of the hospitality industry’s most prestigious international awards and further strengthening Uganda’s profile as a premier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism.

The internationally recognised award honours hotels, resorts and tourism establishments that consistently deliver exceptional guest experiences, world-class facilities, innovation and outstanding service across the global luxury hospitality industry.

Announcing the achievement, Speke Resort Munyonyo management thanked its guests, partners and employees for their continued trust and support.

“We are honored to be recognized as the Official Winner of the 2026 Luxe Global Awards in the Best Luxury Convention Resort category,” the resort management said. “Thank you for your continued support and for making this milestone possible.”

The latest recognition places Speke Resort Munyonyo among the world’s leading luxury convention destinations, highlighting its state-of-the-art conference infrastructure, premium accommodation, exceptional hospitality services and proven ability to host high-profile regional and international events.

Situated on the shores of Lake Victoria, the resort has evolved into Uganda’s flagship convention and leisure destination, regularly hosting Heads of State summits, international conferences, diplomatic engagements, corporate conventions, exhibitions and major sporting and cultural events.

Its world-class convention centre has become instrumental in positioning Uganda as one of Africa’s emerging hubs for business tourism, enabling the country to successfully host large-scale international meetings that previously rotated among other regional destinations.

Among the landmark events hosted at the resort are the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Third South Summit of the Group of 77 (G77) and China, which brought together dozens of Heads of State, government officials and thousands of delegates from across the globe.

The resort has also hosted the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE), numerous African Union meetings, regional business forums, and high-level government conferences.

In 2025, the resort received global recognition at the World Luxury Hotel Awards, where it was celebrated for its outstanding hospitality, luxury accommodation and conference facilities. Over the years, it has consistently earned international recognition for excellence in customer service, event hosting and premium guest experiences.
