Spiro Uganda has teamed up with UNION Sports Club to roll out the Nationwide Boda Boda Football League, an initiative aimed at empowering motorcycle taxi riders while advancing the shift toward electric transport.
The league, officially unveiled this week, is designed to bring together boda boda rider associations from across the country through sport. Organizers say the competition is not only about football but also about strengthening relationships within rider communities, building networks, and opening up new economic opportunities.

Speaking at the launch, Spiro Uganda’s Public Relations and Communications Officer, Ms. Winnifred Atim, described the league as a community-centered platform that blends sports with innovation. She noted that the initiative will also serve as a channel to raise awareness about clean transportation and encourage the adoption of electric motorcycles as part of Uganda’s broader sustainability agenda.
“At Spiro, we believe in combining sports, community, and innovation to celebrate talent while promoting a future where riders can succeed both on and off the road,” Atim said. She added that the partnership with UNION reflects a shared vision of transforming Uganda’s transport sector through affordable and accessible electric mobility solutions.

The company says the program highlights a broader message: that the future of transportation is not only electric, but also inclusive and driven by community opportunity.
