Uganda and Ethiopia Reaffirm Strong Diplomatic Ties in Ottawa

The Acting Head of Mission of the Republic of Uganda to Canada, Ambassador Kayanja Patrick Ssentongo, has reaffirmed the strong and cordial relations between Uganda and Ethiopia following a high-level meeting with Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Tewodros Girma Abebe.

The meeting, which took place at the Uganda High Commission in Ottawa, provided an opportunity for the two diplomats to engage in a warm and meaningful exchange on matters of mutual interest and cooperation between their respective countries.

According to the Uganda High Commission in Ottawa, the discussions highlighted the longstanding friendship and excellent bilateral relations enjoyed by Uganda and Ethiopia, two countries that continue to play significant roles in promoting peace, stability and regional integration on the African continent.

The engagement also reflected the commitment of both diplomatic missions to strengthening collaboration and fostering closer ties between their governments and peoples while serving in Canada.

Uganda and Ethiopia maintain strong diplomatic relations rooted in shared African values, regional cooperation and participation in continental institutions. Both nations have consistently worked together on issues of economic development, peacebuilding and integration through regional and continental frameworks.

The meeting between Ambassador Kayanja and Ambassador Abebe further underscores the importance of diplomatic engagement in advancing mutual interests and enhancing cooperation between African nations abroad.

Officials noted that such interactions continue to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Uganda and Ethiopia while creating opportunities for deeper collaboration in areas of common interest.
