Uganda’s Katwebaze becomes Bank of Africa Ghana deputy managing director

Bank of Africa Ghana has appointed Ugandan banking executive Ellis Erasmus Katwebaze as its new Deputy Managing Director.

This appointment adds another senior leadership role to Katwebaze’s more than 15 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector.

The bank announced the appointment in a statement welcoming Katwebaze to its Executive Management Team.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ellis Erasmus Katwebaze as Deputy Managing Director of Bank of Africa Ghana,” the bank said.

Katwebaze brings to the bank extensive experience in banking and financial services, with a strong track record in strategic leadership, risk management, operational excellence and stakeholder management.

“He joins the Executive Management Team with extensive experience in banking and financial services, bringing a strong track record of strategic leadership, risk management, operational excellence and stakeholder management,” Bank of Africa Ghana said.

Katwebaze has spent a huge part of his banking career within the Bank of Africa Group, having held senior positions in Uganda and Tanzania.

Before his appointment in Ghana, has been serving as General Manager, Credit and Control at Bank of Africa Uganda, a position he has held since July 2022.

He previously served as General Manager, Credit and Control at Bank of Africa Tanzania from July 2018 to June 2022, giving him experience managing credit and control functions within another market where the bank operates.

Katwebaze joined Bank of Africa Uganda in 2013 as Credit Risk Manager before rising to Head of Credit Analysis in 2015.

His career at Bank of Africa Uganda has largely focused on credit risk, credit analysis and control, areas that have formed a major part of his professional experience.

Before joining Bank of Africa, Katwebaze worked at dfcu Bank, where he held several positions, including Senior Credit Manager, Credit Manager, Business Analyst and Banking Officer.

His career at dfcu Bank began in 2007 as a Banking Officer before he moved into business analysis and later progressed into credit management roles.

Katwebaze holds a Bachelor of Statistics degree from Makerere University.
