KAMPALA.The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) on Thursday welcomed a delegation of Koran memorization students from Al-Hijrah Islamic Primary School, Buziika–Nyenga, who paid an educational and familiarization visit to the Council’s headquarters in Kampala. They were led by Sheikh Bassam Isa Mukungu, the head of the department of Koran Memorization Centre- Tahfiidh.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the students’ connection with national Islamic institutions and encouraging them to continue memorizing and living by the teachings of the Holy Koran.
The delegation met His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, the Second Deputy Mufti of Uganda, who warmly received the students and commended their commitment to memorizing the Holy Koran. He urged them to remain steadfast in preserving, understanding and practicing its teachings throughout their lives.
During the visit, the Second Deputy Mufti listened to selected Koranic recitations by the students and praised their outstanding performance, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence in both religious and academic pursuits.
Earlier, the delegation visited the Ubayy bin Ka’b Koran Memorization Centre in Bwebajja, where they interacted with fellow students and participated in Koranic learning activities in a spiritually enriching atmosphere.
The students also had an audience with His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the Deputy Mufti of Uganda, who welcomed them and offered words of guidance and encouragement. He prayed for their continued success and steadfastness, while commending Koran memorization schools for their important role in nurturing a generation grounded in Islamic values and good character.
UMSC expressed appreciation to the administration, teachers and directors of Al-Hijrah Islamic Primary School for organizing the visit, describing it as an important initiative in strengthening the students’ attachment to Islamic learning and leadership.
The Council prayed that Allah blesses the efforts of the school and its teachers and grants the students success in becoming among the people of the Koran, who are honoured by Allah for preserving and living by His Book.
