
ARUA .The Vice President of Uganda, Ms Jessica Alupo has urged people in West Nile and the Greater North to prioritise the education of all children — boys, girls, and children with disabilities — as a pillar for national transformation.
Presiding over the fundraising drive for the Irshad Mosque Complex in Arua City on Saturday, Vice President Alupo called on the Muslim community and the wider population to continue living peacefully and supporting government development initiatives.
She commended the Muslim community for their peaceful coexistence, even amidst differences in social status, and praised West Nile for overcoming divisive tendencies such as tribalism and nepotism.
She remarked that Uganda, under the leadership of President Museveni, had finally achieved complete pacification since 1962.

Ms Alupo noted that the ongoing connection of West Nile to the national electricity grid would accelerate industrial growth, value addition, and household income improvement.
Donations towards Irshad Complex
During the fundraising presided over by Ms Alupo and His Eminence Sheikh Hafidh Muhammad Haruna Bukenya, the Second Deputy Mufti of Uganda, several contributions were made toward the construction of the Irshad Complex.
Ms Alupo donated Shs10 million and pledged continued close cooperation with the mosque committee. Mr Muhammad Mahmud, the Director of Investments at Uganda Development Bank, completed his earlier Shs5 million pledge by paying Shs 2 million, and donated an additional Shs 2 million in cash for the new fundraiser.
He also contributed Shs 500,000 each to Ayivu County and Aria Sub County from Yumbe.
Mr Atima Jackson Lee, the Member of Parliament for Arua Central, handed over Shs40 million cash to the mosque construction committee.

Ms Huda Oleru, Minister of State for Defence, contributed Shs1 million, while Mr Isamat Abraham, Kapir County MP from Ngora District, also sent Shs1 million. Ms Jesca Ababiku , the Woman MP for Adjumani District, contributed Shs 500,000 among others
Alupo also announced her intention to seek presidential permission and financial support from President Museveni to further bolster the Irshad Complex construction. She urged the Member of Parliament for Arua Central to actively follow up for continued presidential support.
