Mufti Presides Over Zakah Distributions

His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda has presided over the distribution of Zakah (alms-giving) organized by ONE UMMAH – UK in collaboration with ONE UMMAH – Uganda. The short ceremony was held at the National Mosque, Old Kampala, during the first weekend of Ramadhan.

In his speech, Mufti Mubaje praised ONE UMMAH – UK for strengthening the bond of brotherhood with Ugandans through their generous support of the needy, fulfilling one of the Pillars of Islam. He also commended their Ugandan counterparts, led by Hajjat Shania Kigozi and Sheikh Erias Kigozi, Kadhi of Wakiso Muslim District, for their integrity and trustworthiness in implementing the program, which benefited over 400 vulnerable people, including the elderly and disabled.


Addressing the beneficiaries, the Mufti urged them to use the funds wisely, not on luxuries, but to generate household income that can sustain their families. He also encouraged them to embrace the spirit of giving, no matter how small, quoting the Prophet Muhammad’s words:
“The best among you is the one who gives with an upper hand rather than always receiving with a lower hand.”

The event was attended by Sheikh Swaleh Kashangirwe, Kadhi of Ntungamo Muslim District, Sheikh Bashir Ssensuku, Kadhi of Mubende Muslim District, and other personalities..
