Stanbic Bank Boosts Kawempe Hospital with UGX 65m Medical Equipment

Stanbic Bank Uganda has strengthened maternal and child health services at Kawempe National Referral Hospital with a donation of medical equipment valued at UGX 65 million.

The handover conducted at the hospital in Kampala underscores the bank’s continued support to public health facilities that handle high patient volumes. Hospital administrators said the new equipment will improve patient monitoring and clinical decision-making in busy units, particularly maternity and newborn care.

Stanbic Bank noted that the contribution aligns with its social investment focus on communities and essential services. The lender said targeted support to frontline facilities helps address resource gaps that can delay care, especially for mothers, infants and other vulnerable patients.

Kawempe National Referral Hospital is one of the country’s busiest centres for obstetric and neonatal cases. Management welcomed the donation, emphasising that additional equipment enhances efficiency for clinical teams, shortens response times and ultimately contributes to safer outcomes for patients.

Health sector observers say partnerships between public facilities and private institutions provide a practical pathway to improving service delivery. Strategic donations of priority equipment can relieve pressure on overstretched wards, complement government allocations, and motivate staff.

According to the bank, the intervention is part of a broader effort to back critical health needs through infrastructure support, outreach activities and collaborations with medical professionals. The hospital indicated it will integrate the new equipment immediately to maximise impact.
