Businessman Sudhir becomes new head of Lohana Community in Uganda

UGANDA. Celebrated Ugandan businessman Sudhir Ruparelia has been appointed Mentor and Coordinator (Prabhari) of Uganda’s Lohana Community for the next five years.

Ruparelia, the Chairman of the Ruparelia Group and Honorary Consul of Nepal to Uganda, will serve as the community’s chief mentor and coordinator, providing strategic guidance and leadership oversight.

The Shree Lohana Mahaparishad is one of the world’s largest umbrella organizations representing the Lohana community, with an estimated membership exceeding three million people globally. Uganda’s chapter currently comprises about 550 members.

The newly appointed leadership team will oversee community affairs, cultural preservation, social welfare initiatives, networking and organizational development across Uganda.

    Community members have welcomed the appointments, expressing optimism that the new leadership team will strengthen unity, enhance member engagement and expand the community’s contribution to Uganda’s socio-economic development.
    Ruparelia is widely regarded as one of East Africa’s most successful entrepreneurs, having built the Ruparelia Group into one of the region’s largest privately-owned business conglomerates with interests in real estate, hospitality, education, agriculture, insurance and property development.
    Beyond business, he is known for his philanthropic initiatives through the Ruparelia Foundation, which has supported projects in education, healthcare, sports, youth empowerment and community welfare.
    His appointment is expected to bring extensive leadership experience and organizational expertise to the Lohana community’s activities and long-term development agenda.
    The Shree Lohana Mahaparishad operates across Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, promoting cultural heritage, charitable work, educational advancement and socio-economic cooperation among members worldwide.
