NEC finally sacks Head Coach Hussein Mbalangu following disagreements

KAMPALA.Uganda Premier League side NEC FC have officially parted ways with head coach Hussein Mbalangu, ending his tenure with the club effective immediately.

The announcement was made on Wednesday through the club’s official website, confirming that both parties had reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract.

“We announce today that a decision has been made to mutually terminate our contract with Head Coach Hussein Mbalangu, effective immediately,” the club stated.

In a detailed statement, NEC explained that the agreement releases Mbalangu from all his responsibilities and commitments with the club.

“In a joint agreement, the club has unconditionally relieved and released Coach Mbalangu from all obligations associated with his role as Head Coach. Both parties have confirmed that no further liabilities or obligations will exist between them, allowing Coach Mbalangu the freedom to join any club of his choice.”

The club further expressed gratitude to the departing coach for his service.

“We extend our gratitude to Coach Mbalangu for his invaluable contributions to the team and wish him the very best in his future endeavours. A permanent appointment shall be announced soon.”

Mbalangu’s sacking comes barely a week after he was suspended over what NEC described as “professional and ethical misconduct.”

The suspension followed reports that he had been seen coaching Ssingo, one of the finalists in this year’s Masaza Cup tournament.

During Mbalangu’s suspension, James Odoch has been serving as the interim head coach while the club resolved the matter.
