Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) ended their winless run in emphatic fashion on Saturday, securing a dominant 5-0 victory over bottom-placed Mbale Heroes FC at the MTN-Omondi Stadium.
Having last won a match on December 15, 2024, against Wakiso Giants FC, KCCA Boys finally returned to winning ways in front of their home fans. Goals from Shafik Nana Kwikiriza, Arafat Usama Kizza, Yan Gatbel, Sadat Happy Anaku, and Sharif Ssengendo ensured a comprehensive victory for the Lugogo-based side.
KCCA FC wasted no time asserting their dominance, taking control of the match from the opening whistle. The breakthrough came when Usama Kizza fired a stunning long-range effort past Mbale Heroes goalkeeper Simon Mabuya, giving the home side an early lead.

The advantage was doubled in the 26th minute when Kwikiriza displayed exceptional skill, weaving past two defenders before calmly slotting the ball into the net. With KCCA FC piling on the pressure, it was only a matter of time before they found a third.
Just before halftime, Anaku capitalized on a defensive lapse to add his name to the scoresheet. Kwikiriza delivered a low cross into the box, and after a fumble by the Mbale Heroes keeper, Anaku was quick to react and tapped in from close range to give KCCA FC a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.
KCCA FC continued their relentless attacking play in the second half, refusing to ease off despite their comfortable lead. Youngster Yan Gatbel extended the scoreline in the 72nd minute, finishing off a well-worked team move with precision.
Three minutes later, Sharif Ssengendo added the final goal of the match, ensuring that KCCA FC walked away with all three points in style.
Impact on the Table
The win propels KCCA FC to sixth place in the league standings with 28 points, reigniting their hopes for a strong finish to the season. Meanwhile, Mbale Heroes FC remain rooted at the bottom of the table with just 10 points, as their struggle for survival continues.
KCCA FC will be eager to build on this victory and maintain momentum in the coming fixtures, while Mbale Heroes must regroup quickly to avoid further setbacks in their bid to avoid relegation.
