Ugandan Students Set for Global Debate Stage After Backing from Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga

Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has extended her support to a team of young debaters from Kiira College Butiki who are preparing to represent Uganda at the 16th Annual Eurasian Schools Debate Championship in Istanbul, Turkey.

The delegation, led by Head Teacher Mr. Semtvanga Moses, included students Ephraim Akaya Gidudu, Samuel Mulambuzi Kwagala, and Alvin Isabirye, accompanied by their debate patron, Ms. Sarah Munaba. The students earned the honor of representing Uganda at the prestigious international competition and sought support to facilitate their travel and participation.

Kadaga commended the learners for their dedication, discipline, and academic excellence. She emphasized the importance of debate in nurturing critical thinking, confidence, and leadership skills among young people, noting that such platforms prepare students to contribute meaningfully to national development.

She pledged her support for the team’s journey, expressing confidence that they will represent Uganda with distinction and raise the country’s profile on the global debating stage.

The engagement reflects Kadaga’s continued commitment to empowering youth and supporting initiatives that promote education, leadership, and international exposure for Ugandan students.
