Rukungiri High Court has bid farewell to Chief Magistrate Edith Mary Mbabazi, who officially retired on 20th February after close to six years of dedicated service to the people of Rukungiri and Kanungu.
In statement issued by judiciary the community, district leadership, and courts within the Circuit organized a farewell held on recently at Heritage Hotel in Rukungiri. She was given Friesian cow and others gift brought in by the community and friends in judiciary.
The Chief Administrative Officer, Byekwaso Fredrick, speaking during the event hailed HW Mbabazi for her exemplary leadership in the administration of justice within the district. He described her as a down-to-earth leader whose office remained open to all without discrimination.
“as a member of the District Security Committee, you played a critical role in guiding district leadership on matters of security and governance,” he said.
On behalf of the Magistrates Grade One, HW Gonzaga Mbalangu expressed deep appreciation for her mentorship and leadership.
He described her as a nurturing supervisor who entrusted her team with responsibility without undue interference, while remaining assertive and principled in matters concerning the dispensation of justice. “I emphasized that you treated those under your supervision with respect, setting an example of integrity and professionalism. The legal fraternity,”
Judiciary staff from across the Circuit also paid tribute to her compassionate leadership style, highlighting the care, counsel, and guidance she consistently extended to her team.
The Assistant Registrar of Rukungiri High Court, Hellen Atigo, commended the immense service rendered by Mbabazi and wished her a fulfilling and fruitful retirement.
She also thanked the people of Rukungiri for the love and support accorded to the retired Chief Magistrate throughout her tenure, noting that serving in her home district made her contribution even more impactful. ENDS
