Cyber Expert Testimony Links Suspect to Disturbing Online Searches in Ggaba Case

KAMPALA, Uganda — A cyber security analyst with the Uganda Police Force has presented critical digital evidence in the ongoing trial related to the Ggaba children murder case.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Kenneth Henry Angulo told court that an analysis of four mobile phones belonging to the prime suspect, Christopher Okello Onyum, uncovered a series of alarming online searches.

According to his testimony, the suspect had searched for information on firearm acquisition in Uganda as well as violent extremist content, including beheading. Investigators also found multiple location-based searches targeting pre-schools, daycare centers, and children’s play facilities.

Some of the specific locations searched reportedly included institutions in Matugga along Ssemuto Road, Kyanja Junior School, and Ggaba Community Church.

Further evidence presented in court indicated that the suspect had downloaded and stored a copy of the book The Art of War by Sun Tzu on a flash disk in November 2025.

Proceedings were, however, abruptly halted after a heavy rainstorm disrupted the court session, damaging a temporary tent where the judge, lawyers, and the accused were seated. Court documents and exhibits were affected as security personnel rushed to ensure the safety of those present.

The hearing has been adjourned and is expected to resume tomorrow morning.
