This is after Justice Alice Komuhangi Kaukha has rejected the insanity defence by Okello and concluded that his calculated conduct before and after commiting the murders are proof that he was in a sane mental state on the 2nd / April 2026 , the day of the gruesome murders.
The court has noted that Okello also in his defence doesn’t deny murdering the children but he never did it intentionally as there are some other factors that pushed him to do so.
The judge has evaluated the evidence of all the 18 prosecution witnesses including parents of the deceased children , postmortem reports , investigating officers and Okello’s own unsworn defence and 2 defence witnesses to reach a verdict.
Justice Komuhangi has noted that Okello’s actions Includig getting. a Sanity report prior to commission of the offnce , making mobile money and bank payments to hire a car and rent a house shows that he is in a sane mental state to weigh the consequences of his actions.
The judge has further ruled that failure by Okello to produce any medical evidence , any of his parents or family memeber to prove his madness leaves no doubt to court that he committed the offence with a sober mind .
The court has there ruled that prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt that Okello intentionally killed the 4 infants.
