MUKONO.Mukono Territorial Police are investigating allegations of sodomy involving seven male pupils of Albright Junior School in Mukono Municipality following the arrest of the school’s 24-year-old Director of Studies, Gerald Lukyamuzi.

The suspect is alleged to have taken the pupils from school and sexually abused them at his residence between February and October 2026, according to police.

The case was reported on October 19, 2026, under SD Reference 39/10/19/2026, after one of the pupils reportedly disclosed the alleged abuse to his parents.

The disclosure followed a school meeting in which Primary Seven pupils were encouraged to discuss with their parents any challenges they were experiencing as they prepared for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

The parents subsequently reported the matter to police, prompting officers to visit the school and launch investigations.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala said police had rescued and interviewed the affected children, conducted medical examinations and visited the alleged crime scene.

Officers have also recorded statements from the complainant, parents and other witnesses as investigations continue.

Kawala said police had arrested the suspect and were recording statements from school administrators and tracing others who could provide relevant information.

“The case file will be submitted to the relevant legal authorities for guidance and further action,” she said.

The suspect is reported to have told investigators that the alleged abuse began while he was teaching at a school in Luweero District and continued until his arrest.

Residents allege that Lukyamuzi had taken in a former pupil after promising the child’s parents that he would support him with school fees, but subsequently subjected the boy to prolonged sexual abuse.

Police urged parents, guardians and school administrators to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of child abuse promptly.

They also cautioned members of the public against sharing information that could identify the affected children, warning that their privacy and dignity must be protected as investigations proceed.

The allegations have raised concerns about children’s safety in school environments and the responsibility of educational institutions to protect pupils from sexual exploitation.
