Douglas Lwanga Addresses Purple Party Payment Allegations by Singer Latinum

iMAGE | douglas lwanga addresses purple party payment allegations by singer latinum

Renowned Ugandan media personality and entrepreneur Douglas Lwanga has finally responded to allegations made by singer Latinum Lati regarding unpaid performance dues for one of Lwanga’s Purple Party events.

Latinum recently claimed that he was not compensated after performing at one of the past editions of the event, a statement that has sparked discussions in the entertainment industry about payment agreements between event organizers and artists.

In response, Lwanga clarified that his events operate through partnerships and that at the time Latinum performed, he was under a music label. He emphasized that the responsibility for payment would have fallen on the label rather than the event organizers.

“As an artist, you are expected to do music. However, we as an event, we work via partnerships. The year that Latinum claims to have performed at my event, he was signed under a label. He should find out details from the owner of the label at that time, Paul Owor,” Lwanga stated.

Latinum has yet to issue a response to Lwanga’s clarification.

This controversy has reignited conversations about the financial dynamics between event organizers and musicians. It highlights the need for clearer contractual agreements to ensure artists receive their due payments without disputes arising years later. Industry stakeholders continue to debate best practices for ensuring transparency and accountability in artist compensation.

As the story develops, entertainment enthusiasts and industry insiders will be keen to see whether Latinum or Paul Owor addresses the matter further.
