Museveni, Netherlands Ambassador Discuss Agricultural Cooperation and Modern Farming Technologies

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has held discussions with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Uganda, H.E. Frederieke Quispel, focusing on strengthening agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, highlighted the longstanding partnership between Uganda and the Netherlands, particularly in the agricultural sector, which remains a key pillar of Uganda’s economy.

According to President Museveni, Ambassador Quispel provided an update on an ongoing study tour in the Netherlands involving Ugandan farmers. The tour is aimed at exposing the farmers to modern agricultural technologies, innovative farming practices, and advanced production systems that can help improve productivity and profitability back home.

The President welcomed the initiative, noting that knowledge transfer and technology adoption are critical in transforming Uganda’s agricultural sector and enhancing household incomes.

“Today, I also held discussions with H.E. Frederieke Quispel, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on continued agricultural cooperation between Uganda and the Netherlands. She also updated me on the ongoing study tour to the Netherlands, where Ugandan farmers are gaining exposure to modern technologies and innovative farming practices,” President Museveni said.

He further praised the cordial relations between Uganda and the Netherlands, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration in areas that promote economic growth and development.

“I welcome the strong and cordial relations between Uganda and the Netherlands, which continue to advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” he added.

Uganda and the Netherlands have maintained close ties over the years, with cooperation spanning agriculture, trade, investment, water management, and sustainable development. The Netherlands is among Uganda’s key development and trade partners, particularly in supporting agricultural modernization and agribusiness development.

The latest engagement underscores the shared commitment of both countries to fostering innovation, enhancing agricultural productivity, and creating opportunities for farmers through international partnerships and knowledge exchange.
