Opposition National Unity Platform(NUP) ardent supporter Paul Musoke has died from injuries sustained in a suspected arson attack last week, the party has announced.
NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya said Musoke died on Saturday after battling severe burn injuries in hospital.
“Very sad to announce that our brother Paul Musoke could not make it,” Rubongoya said, adding
“He passed away a short while ago after a brave fight against the severe injuries he sustained in last week’s horrific arson attack.”
Rubongoya called for those responsible for the attack to be identified and prosecuted.
“We remain hopeful that in due course, those who masterminded the cruel act leading to this tragedy will face justice,” he said.
NUP said Musoke’s body would be taken to the party’s headquarters on Sunday afternoon to allow supporters and party officials to pay their respects.
The body will later be transported to Kirinya-Bweyogerere for an overnight vigil.
Burial is scheduled for Monday, August 31, at Bwerenga-Kawuku along Entebbe Road.
Police had yet to publicly disclose details about the circumstances of the suspected attack or the progress of investigations by the time of publication.
