Uganda has once again garnered international recognition for its outstanding efforts in attracting private sector investments. For the third year running, the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) has been honored as the “Runner-up for Best Investment Promotion Agency in Africa” at the prestigious AIM Global Awards 2025 held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.

This significant achievement highlights Uganda’s continuous commitment to promoting and facilitating private sector investments, setting it apart from other African nations. The award is a testament to UIA’s tireless efforts in creating a conducive environment for investors and ensuring Uganda’s position as a top investment destination on the African continent.

The award ceremony was part of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress 2025), which took place from April 7th to 9th, 2025. The AIM Global Awards aim to recognize the best-performing Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) worldwide. Now in its 14th edition, the AIM initiative, led by the AIM Foundation, is an independent international organization focused on empowering the global economy by fostering investment and business development.

Uganda’s consistent success in winning this award, year after year, was praised by the Ugandan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), H.E. Zaake Wanume Kibedi, who expressed his gratitude to the Uganda Investment Authority for their exceptional services to investors. He emphasized that UIA’s outstanding efforts have put Uganda in the spotlight every year, earning the country global recognition in the investment community. Ambassador Kibedi also assured full support to UIA in their mission to attract more investors from the UAE and beyond to establish businesses in Uganda.

The Vice President of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI), Stephen Joseph Kalibbala Mpagi, who also attended the Annual Investment Meeting  extended his appreciation to UIA for spearheading the creation of a favorable investment climate in Uganda. He noted, “As UNCCI, we also thank President Museveni and his government for establishing a favorable ground for investment in Uganda. This has allowed us to explore new business opportunities and foster the growth of Uganda’s economy. We are proud to work closely with the government and our partners, including the International Chamber of Commerce and other global business chambers, to explore and promote Uganda as a prime destination for investment worldwide.”

This award is not just a recognition of Uganda’s growth in the investment sector, but also a reminder of the continued support and commitment from government bodies and private-sector institutions to maintain a favorable business environment. As Uganda continues to attract global investors, this achievement sets the stage for even greater economic growth, innovation, and job creation in the years to come.
