Formulate a succession policy to guide head teachers- Prince Nakibinge orders UMEA

MASAKA.

The titular head of Muslim community in Uganda Prince Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu, has directed the Uganda Muslim Education Association, (UMEA) to come up with a succession plan as a guiding tool for head teachers in Muslim founded schools.


“ I am directing leadership of UMEA to put in place a proper succession policy guiding teachers on how they can get to the top leadership in their schools when the incumbent head teachers retire,” Prince Nakibinge who is the patron of UMEA said while officiating at a ceremony where outgoing Masaka Secondary School head teacher Mr Musa Mpungu officially handed over to the caretaker head teacher Mr Ahmed Mukiibi on Saturday .


Mukiibi has been serving Masaka SS as deputy in charge of administration and finance for 10 years.
Prince Nakibinge commended the Ministry of Education for always listening to UMEA concerns regarding retirement of school heads.

“The ministry has always invited us as stakeholders to discuss and sometimes we don’t agree on everything, but at least our voices are always heard, there was time when some people were lobbying for his [Mpungu] position before clocking the retirement age ,but I thank the Ministry of Education for handling his retirement process very well ,” he said


The permanent Secretary Ministry of Education ,Ms Kedrace Turyagenda, in a speech delivered by Hajji Abubakar Bbuye, the principal education officer at Ministry applauded Hajj Mpungu for meticulously serving Masaka SS .

“I implore Hajji Ahmed Mukibi to emulate him[Mpungu] and maintain the good academic performance and discipline of the students,” she said
Hajj Mpungu applauded UMEA , the school board of governors , the city leadership and parents for supporting him during his tenure.


“We have seen schools with less than 1000 students being closed following strikes , I thank Allah that for all the years I have been here this school with over 4000 students has never been closed over strike .I could not manage this without your full support and God’s will,”


“I have managed to secure the title for all the school land and the remaining title is that we got from The Aga Khan Foundation following the aamalgamation of the school with the Aga Khan Academy is 1954, I am still following up this issue with the President and I know we shall soon get that title as well.” he said .
