KALUNGU.Mr Ahmed Nyombi Mukiibi Kamadi,the incumbent Kalungu District chairperson is on the moon after winning the National Unity Platform (NUP) to defend his seat .
The outspoken veteran teacher hit the limelight in 2021 after winning the hotly contested district chairperson race where he garnered of 21,293 votes against 11, 805 votes by NRM’s Richard Kyabaggu. In 2021 NUP also gained more ground in the district previous known as an NRM stronghold by winning 12 out of the 14 positions of councilors .NRM managed to retain only two positions of direct councillor for Lwabenge sub-county and the Female representative for Lukaya Town council which were won by John Kalema and Irene Mwebe Nanyanzi respectively.
