KASSANDA. The Kassanda Resident District Commissioner Phoebe Namulindwa has warned police officers against arbitrating land matters in the area.
Namulindwas tough warning came after police officers from Kassanda Police Station went to Kyengeza Village and arrested four people from the same family on orders of a landlord Ahamada Kamoga and detained them at Kassanda Police Station.
“Police officers, you are warned to stop engaging in land wrangles ,this is not the first time I am m warning you but it seems you have kept a deaf ear ,your role is to keep law and order not to arbitrate in land matters “She said
After getting wind of the arrests Ms Namulindwa called the District Police Commander and ordered him to release the suspects ,which he complied with .

On Tuesday evening, the RDC called an impromptu meeting at Kyengeza Village and all affected sitting tenants and the purported land attended .
The disputed five acre piece of land is comprised in Block 295 Plot 244.
During the meeting Mr Kamoga said his land has no registered occupants and those who are currently staying there have to vacate and relocate to other places .
Ms Namulindwa further asked the LC 1 chairperson Edward Muyomba to stop aiding landlords to evict sitting tenants .
Any affected resident should return to his Kibanja ,no one has the authority to evict you , she said
