Uganda’s National Lottery Nears One Million Winners in Just Over a Year

The Uganda National Lottery has marked a major milestone, producing close to one million winners since its launch just over a year ago. Operated by ITHUBA Uganda, the lottery began in June 2024 and has already recorded more than 986,000 winners across its growing portfolio of games.

According to the organizers, this achievement reflects both the popularity of the lottery among Ugandans and the trust that players are placing in its transparent operations. Michelle Van Trotsenburg, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at ITHUBA Uganda, noted that the milestone demonstrates the lottery’s ability to not only deliver entertainment but also to create meaningful change in the lives of ordinary Ugandans.

The lottery offers a wide range of products, from flagship draws such as LOTTO and POWERBALL to fast-paced daily games like TAANO TAANO, as well as instant-win digital options including Spin4Cash, Fortune Fruits, and Wheel of Fortune. Quirky titles such as Mr. Chicken, Laduma Cash Striker, and Ezi Lotto have also quickly gained fans.

Beyond providing excitement, the National Lottery has been positioned as a tool for community upliftment. The funds generated contribute to national development while the regular payouts encourage more Ugandans to participate responsibly.

As of September 2025, jackpots continue to rise, particularly for LOTTO and POWERBALL, giving players hope for life-changing wins. Participation has been made easier through multiple channels, including the official website, mobile money platforms like MTN MoMo (*165#) and Airtel Money (*185#), and USSD (*278#).

The near one-million winner mark highlights how rapidly the lottery has integrated into Uganda’s gaming culture, creating both anticipation and optimism for what lies ahead.
