Paratus Group has extended its telecommunications network into East Africa, adding Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania to its footprint. The move positions the pan-African operator as a stronger player in the region’s digital infrastructure space.
Kenya has been part of Paratus since late 2024, operating as a licensed internet service provider and reseller of satellite connectivity. Rwanda and Uganda have recently joined the network with full ISP operations, while Tanzania followed in 2025 with services tailored to enterprise and wholesale clients.
The expansion is anchored on the company’s East-West fibre route, which links Maputo on the Indian Ocean to Swakopmund on the Atlantic and connects to the Equiano subsea cable. This backbone is designed to deliver high-capacity, low-latency internet across borders, improving reliability for regional users.
Paratus is targeting key sectors including retail, logistics, education, healthcare, and tourism. By delivering scalable and secure digital services, the company aims to support businesses and communities as East Africa’s economy continues to grow and attract investment.
Industry forecasts suggest East Africa’s contribution to Africa’s GDP could increase significantly over the next decade, and Paratus sees its role in building digital highways as central to unlocking that potential.
