KAMPALA. Three workers at MEI-LIN International Hotel in Nakasero ,a posh Kampala suburb have been remanded to Luzira prison for allegedly helping Kennedy Nsubuga to evade arrest .
Nsubuga is the prime suspect in the brutal attack on presidential advisor Jennifer Nakanguubi, popularly known as Full Figure. He reportedly assaulted and robbed singer turned political mobiliser Jennifer Nakanguubi, popularly known as Full Figure.
On Thursday , Juma Kakooza, Jessy Lugeya, and James Asiimwe appeared before Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Winnie Nankya who remanded them pending further proceedings.
Prosecution alleges that the trio knowingly assisted Nsubuga to escape arrest despite him being wanted by Police for violently attacking Full Figure.
The assault occurred on August 29 along Kyadondo Road, as Full Figure was heading to a press conference organized Kayunga District NRM chairperson and businessman Moses Karangwa.
Reports indicate she was attacked by a group led by another presidential advisor in charge of Greater Masaaka Justine Nameere and her husband, who allegedly beat her, robbed her of a mobile phone and Shs500,000, and left her with severe injuries including a swollen face, puffed lips, and black eyes.
Full Figure described the attack as an attempt to humiliate and silence her politically.
Kampala Metropolitan Police confirmed that the case was registered at KMP headquarters as a robbery.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, said detectives had already visited the scene, interviewed witnesses, and launched a manhunt for the suspects.
“The investigation is progressing, and those who aided the suspects to evade justice will also face the law,” Onyango said.
Ms Nameere and Full Figure, backed rival camps during the recently concluded NRM Central Region CEC elections, with the former, a daughter of former Defence Minister Vincent Ssempijja, supporting businessman Moses Karangwa, while Full Figure campaigned for Minister Haruna Kasolo, who eventually won the heated polls.
The rivalry, which began on social media with heated exchanges between their supporters, spilled into physical confrontation .
Police intervened after viral videos from the scene showed Full Figure brutally attacked by two men as a woman’s voice accused her of abusing her husband.
Full Figure, a female blogger known for her abusive tongue claims to have been pierced and stabbed using rusty, blunt knives and objects. It remains to be seen whether Nameera and husband will also be arrested and charged over assaulting Full Figure yet the latter’s victims have in the past failed to get justice.
