2026 polls: MTN , American firm win election deals

KAMPALA. Telecom giant MTN Uganda , is among the six companies evaluated bidders to supply and install systems for election results transmission and dissemination for the 2026 general election .
According to documents seen by this online publication ,the Electoral Commission principal procurement officer, Martin Twinomugisha, released a notice of the best evaluated companies on September 30.
The companies include; MTN Uganda Ltd ,CWG Uganda Ltd ,Blue Cranes Communications ,Globe Trendz Ltd, Avante International Technology and CWG Uganda Ltd.


Sources have told this publication that Avante International Technology ,an American –based firm , partnered with CWG Uganda Ltd , a local firm, to win the best evaluated bidder for supply ,installation and support of the election and support of the election results transmission and dissemination at a contract price of Shs6.2billion .


Avante International Technology is a private firm with headquarters in Princeton , New Jersey (NJ),USA. It is best known for election voting , transmission and dissemination technologies .
CWB was also awarded the best bidder to supply , install and configure ICT infrastructure for tally centre operations at Shs8.7billion .


On the other hand, MTN Uganda was awarded the best bid for provision of data connectivity for transmission of elections results –primary connection at a contract price of Shs875million. Under primary data connections ,the service provider is required to provide internet ,data connection and equipment .Other services include; fibre connections ,routers for all the sites, installation and support services required to implement this solution.


Besides participating in election systems and solutions in the US, AVANTE implemented the Biometric Voter Registration Solution in the 2011 General Election in Nigeria and Election Results Transmission and Dissemination System in the 2011 Generation Elections in Uganda.


Blue Crane Communication was awarded the best bidder for the provision of data connectivity for transmission of election results –secondary connection at a contract price of Shs991.6m. The firm was also awarded the contract to supply display screens for district tally centres at a contract price of Shs1.3billion .


Under this deal, the firm is required to supply display screens, install the equipment and provide support services .EC officials also awarded Globe Trendz Ltd best bidder for the supply and installation of election results visualization solutions (ERVS) at a contract price of Shs903.8million .


Under this contract , the firm is required to provide a web-based software to provide visualization of 2026 election results at the National Tally Centre Centre in different graphical displays . The system should provide an interactive map with all the districts indicated on it , with results showing scores and percentages for each presidential candidate for each district .
